When to resign?

August 30th, 2008 by Jeff Carter

How do you decide when it is time to let go of your job?

A few pointers on why you should look for a new job.

The most common reason is you are denied a promotion or a raise that is due. Perhaps you feel your performance is not properly appraised or biased. Maybe your peers are advancing at a faster rate.

When you feel like you are not going anywhere despite talking with your boss, it is time to revise your cv.

If the management hands out unrealistic deadlines every single time putting you under undue stress then you should rethink your job options. Tackling pressure is vital since it affects your emotional and physical well being. If you are healthy you can do the job, there are no ifs and buts when health is the issue.

Walk away if the company does not give a damn to your well being. If a company cannot perceive the value of its employees then it does not deserve them.

Update your resume when you feel like a small fish in a big ocean, your performance is ignored, no praise offered, or worse constantly criticised, you are overlooked for training opportunities or higher education.

It is time to walk away when your personal extra efforts and special contributions are not acknowledged like if your methods saved a substantial amount/time for your company and is not recognised by the top management.

Learn to let go and treat these unfortunate incidents as a golden opportunity to fast track your career. Do not let irrational fears of the unknown chain you to the cubicle of stagnation.

Don't keep this a secret.Share n Enjoy:
